Welcome Bob’s Steak and Chop House!
Blue Fire at Omni La Costa has never been my favorite restaurant. Food was sometimes excellent and at other times mediocre.
It was time for a change.
And a big change it will be come March 1 or thereabouts because a Texas favorite is coming to La Costa that just might challenge the likes of Ruth’s Chris or Donovan’s Steak Houses. Blue Fire is set to close on March 1 and re-open a couple of months later, transformed into what will surely be a new Carlsbad and La Costa luxe dining spot.
We’ll now see Bob’s Steak and Chop House : A Traditional American Prime Steakhouse–also a favorite in Texas (8 locations), San Francisco, Tucson, Nashville and Amelia Island in Florida–and soon to be a favorite in Carlsbad as well. In fact, I would imagine that this restaurant, if it lives up to its reputation, could draw diners from all over San Diego, if not a few from Orange County as well.
The steaks are prime, the seafood looks sumptuous and the highly-rated glazed carrot that comes with meals is both a tradition and favorite with diners. Prices will likely be comparable to Ruth’s Chris or Donovans, but the value seems to be there. By all means, also check out their Yelp reviews.
Kudos to Omni La Costa in their decision to bring Bob’s Steak and Chop House to Carlsbad. I’ve long been a fan of a good steak, roasted veggies and an occasional martini.
Can’t wait to try it out!
(and La Costa real estate gets more interesting all the time.)
