Halloween creates a great opportunity to host a memorable costume party for your friends.
It could be as simple as a pizza dinner with chips and dips–or something far more elaborate and creative with dry ice boiling in a spiked punch bowl or cauldron. Or how about sausages wrapped up to look like mummies, or dips served inside scooped-out mini pumpkins. The ideas are limitless and you can glean some great ideas from Pinterest or creepy recipe and decorating ideas found online.
Though costumes can be rented or purchased (sometimes at great cost) locally, encourage your guests to make their own. Again, there are literally thousands of costume ideas that can be found online and many may be fairly simple to make. And some are almost guaranteed to bring down the house with laughter.
Once you’ve got the costumes taken care of, make up the menu of treats for your party and then consider your home’s Halloween decor. Consider dimming the lighting, lighting candles and perhaps a few carved pumpkins. Fake webs laden with spiders, hanging goblins, gravestones and other witchy touches can set the atmosphere. Again, you’ll find lots of ideas online.
And if you expect having trick or treaters coming to your door, you might want to find a local teenager who would be willing to hand out treats and which will allow you to spend time with your guests.
Halloween is a big deal in La Costa, with kids of all ages wandering the sidewalks and knocking on doors. What a great time to host a party and share in the fun!
