Do you think most buyers of La Costa real estate are more concerned with saving green, rather than being green–and having green features?
Sometimes, though, saving green and being green are one in the same.
The Appraisal Journal, conducting a study out of the University of Texas at San Antonio, seems to think that might be the case–at least on a more national level. And while homes in La Costa, Carlsbad and Encinitas don’t need to worry about freeze sensors and warnings, we probably are more favorably inclined toward solar power than other regions because of our high electricity costs.
And probably like most other California residents, I wish we had a way for rare rain catchment, reservoirs–and recycling of gray water.
This chart shows what eco-friendly features are in highest demand for home buyers–and slide down to those that are least desired in most parts of the country. It’s interesting information, but would likely be different here in La Costa and San Diego! Here, buyers tend to like features that save money on utility bills (except for leased solar!)–and also appreciate well-tended herb and vegetable gardens as well as bearing fruit trees.
