The La Costa Chateaus have the unique distinction of being the only privately-owned properties behind the gates of La Costa that can be owner-occupied year long–or serve as long or short-term rentals.
Built in the early 1970’s as pied-a-terres for out-of-area and affluent La Costa members, these 791 square foot studio condos sported two Murphy beds, a spacious living and entertaining area, a small kitchenette and 1.5 baths. They were perfect for entertaining by day and sleeping at night.
The original La Costa Chateaus looked much different then than they do today. The Balboa and The Cortez started off as wood shingled, three story buildings that looked like identical sisters. By 2008, things started to change, when both buildings decided to totally revamp the exteriors to blend with the recently remodeled La Costa Resort and Spa.
Today, the La Costa Chateaus have a distinct Mediterranean flair and many of the studios have been tastefully converted to one-bedroom condos with full kitchens and remodeled bathrooms. Parking, as always, is secure and underground. Both buildings offer swimming pools and BBQ area.
